About Baker Lake Community Cookbook
We believe that food brings people together. Our mission is to create a platform where the community can share their favourite recipes and connect with each other. The Champions of Health Program, and this cookbook, showcase healthy country food options including caribou, muskox, and fish available locally in our community through youth engagement. Harvesting, preparing, and sharing meals with others is an important part of building strong healthy communities. Together we can build a collection of recipes and share food knowledge. Contribute your recipe today and help us build our community cookbook.
Stay tuned for program information about recipe development, taste-tests, cooking classes and demonstrations, and other community events.
The Hamlet of Baker Lake has launched the Champions of Health community health project to promote healthy nutritional choices and healthy lifestyles within Baker Lake through education and capacity building. The program has received financial assistance from PATHWAYS Indigenous Health Collaborations.
